Safaricom Foundation Visits Tewa Training Centre


On February 3rd, 2023, Tewa Training Centre in Kilifi County had the pleasure of welcoming delegates from Safaricom Foundation, Michael Mutiga, Chief Business Development and Strategy Officer, and Stephen Kiptinness, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. The center, established in 2010 by the Kianda Foundation and managed by Nurisha Trust, serves as a beacon of hope for women and girls in the area, offering high-quality education and vocational training to empower its students to reach their full potential.

The support from Safaricom Foundation through its Ndoto Zetu program has been instrumental in the growth and success of Tewa Training Centre. From providing a water system and a greenhouse project to setting up a fully equipped ICT laboratory with new computers and a photocopier, the Foundation's contributions have been invaluable.

During their visit, the Safaricom Foundation representatives were thoroughly impressed with the quality of education and dedication of the staff at Tewa. The center provides accredited vocational courses in hospitality, and also extends its reach through outreach programs in tailoring, agriculture, and cookery.

Tewa Training Centre is a shining example of the transformative power of vocational training institutions in shaping the future of women and girls in Kenya.
