Beyond Making Ends Meet: Turning Daily Survival into Lasting Wealth

a woman budgeting her daily earnings for her household

It is 6:00 PM in a busy Kenyan household. There is a woman: perhaps she is a student at Kibondeni, a mother supported by Kianda’s CHEP health program, or a micro-entrepreneur we have walked with for years at Tewa. She is looking at her budget and performing a quiet miracle.

With a little money, she ensures there is a nutritious meal, the electricity token is topped up, and there’s enough left for tomorrow’s fare. At Nurisha Trust, we see this every day. We call it: The Stretch. It is a powerful masterclass in financial discipline and resilience that women perform daily.

But there is a question that often lingers: "I am a master of the stretch... but when do I get to be a master of the growth?"

The Invisible Wall

For too long, we have felt that investing only happens in glass towers behind heavy mahogany desks. We see headlines about stock markets and think, "That is for someone else. I’m just trying to make ends meet". We have built an invisible wall between our daily hard work and the world of wealth.

At Nurisha, we believe it is time to tear that wall down.

An Invitation from Kianda Foundation

This International Women’s Day, our partners at Kianda Foundation; the same visionaries behind the CHEP health clinics and our vocational centers: are opening a door for every woman who has ever felt unqualified to invest. They are hosting a special webinar titled "Invest as You Are," and we are encouraging every student, alumna, and friend of Nurisha to claim their seat.

Led by financial expert Wangui Maranga Okello, this session is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Wangui understands that if you have the character to manage a household or a small business, you already have the investor DNA required to succeed. You don't need a massive bank account to start; you just need the right key.

Why Every Nurisha Woman Should Attend

We want our community to join this webinar because empowerment must be holistic.

  • For our students at Tewa and Kibondeni: Your vocational skills get you the job, but your financial wisdom keeps you free.

  • For our project partners: Wealth isn't about greed; it’s about providing the nourishment of stability for your family’s future.

This is about taking the tools you already have and accelerating your progress.
